Missing paddleboarder found dead in Lake Conway

Man's name not yet released

BELLE ISLE, Fla. – The body of a missing paddleboarder was found late Thursday in Lake Conway, according to the mayor of Belle Isle.

The man's name has not yet been released.

Orange County Fire Rescue searched Lake Conway after witnesses reported seeing a head bobbing in the water and heard someone calling for help. OCFR said when officials arrived, they didn't see anyone in the water.

Sonar equipment was used to search the lake, and Belle Isle police told News 6 that the paddleboarder was later found dead.

Belle Isle Mayor Lydia Pisano said others should learn from this.

"Wear lifejackets. Wear lifejackets when you're paddling, boating, water skiing, anything. Because we don't want our city to go through this again," she said. "We all know each other, so it's very tough. It's very tough."

No other details have been released.
