ORLANDO, Fla. - Sales of up to 75 percent off enticed large crowds to shopping centers across Central Florida on the day after Christmas.
According to retail sales analysts at ShopperTrak, the deep discounts are aimed at speeding up sluggish sales over the past few weeks.
At Waterford Lakes in Orlando, customers told Local 6 it was working.
"I bought LED lights for the Christmas tree. They're energy efficient, brighter," Biske said.
Kim Biske was stopping at several stores, including Target, and her bullseye was discounted holiday decorations. She plans on stocking up for next year at half the price.
"Every year I get new wrapping paper and tissue paper and everything, so it's 50 percent off," said Biske. "You throw it away so I hate to pay full price."
Stores like Old Navy, Target and Bath and Body Works were offering big sales managers said would last throughout the weekend.
Shoppers, of course, also packed stores making Christmas returns and spending gift cards. A local Target manager told Local 6 the day after Christmas is the busiest day of the year for customers using gift cards.
