Lea Industries has voluntarily recalled 34 different children's bed collections, including the Lea Panel, Loft and Bunk beds, which come in several different colors.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the beds have been recalled by the company due to breakable side mattress support rails, posing a fall hazard.
There have been 22 reported incidents in the United States involving the recalled beds since 2009. In 2009, a 6-year-old girl was treated for a head injury after the top mattress of a bunk bed fell onto her while the sheets were being changed.
Lea Industries beds are built in China and Vietnam, but they are imported out of High Point, N.C. They are typically sold at Direct Buy stores, online at Amazon.com and furniture stores worldwide.
The only remedy for the faulty beds is replacement, so Lea Industries is offering free side rails. The company can be contacted toll-free at (888) 770-7116, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
