LED lighting is changing the look of Downtown Orlando.
If you've driven down State Road 408 after dark in the last month, it would be hard to miss the bright green hues coming off the soon to open Aloft hotel.
The LED lighting creates a distinctive modern look to the former OUC building. Local 6 is told exterior modifications are limited since the building falls under preservation guidelines.
The lighting makes a statement without compromising the buildings integrity.
Aloft is only the latest in a growing list of downtown properties incorporating these low cost solutions for setting a property apart from the crowd.
Many businesses, including Aloft, have the ability to change color with computer controls, giving operators the flexibility to present a different image during holidays or special events.
From the Lynx bus station to the recently restored Lake Eola Fountain, a rainbow of color dots the downtown landscape.
LEDs are also reported to be used in a number of future downtown art installations.
