LEESBURG, Fla. – A Leesburg Police Department employee is under investigation for allegations of sexual misconduct, according to a release.
Police said the department was notified of the misconduct on Wednesday, sparking an internal affairs investigation and a Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

"The allegations are of a criminal nature and are taken very seriously by the administration of the Leesburg Police Department," Captain Rob Hicks wrote in a release. "Our primary focus in this investigation is to seek the truth."
Police said the department member has been placed on non-disciplinary administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The department said it wouldn't comment until both investigation are complete.
