Antojitos Opens at CityWalk
Universal's rapid CityWalk makeover is in high-gear. Tonight the first really big piece of the puzzle opens to guests: Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food.
Built on the site of the former Latin Quarter nightclub, Universal calls Antojitos colorful inside and out. Well, we can see above the outside is definitely eye-catching.
Featuring more than 200 different tequilas, Universal says Antojitos "takes diners on a journey through the cantinas, street carts and markets of Mexico City for craveable Mexican fare that is unlike any other."
The menu stresses fresh -- and there are two different experiences: Downstairs is more casual. and features carnitas al pastor tacos (made with beer and chile braised pork, grilled pineapple and guajillo salsa) and oaxaca enchiladas (chicken tinga and house made mole sauce, queso fresco and lime crema).
The upstairs is a more elegant experience. It's menu includes carne asada brava (coffee crusted ribeye with fire roasted vegetables) and menonita shrimp (bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with menonita cheese.
There is also tableside-tossed guac, live entertainment - and coke products from Mexico (made with real sugar like it was done in the US before New Coke).
Antojitos is open nightly from 5 p.m. to midnight.
It is the second of 8 new eateries and entertainment options opening this year.
The first was the excellent Red Oven Pizza Bakery.

Antojitos opens just days ahead of Universal's food and fun fest,
Mardi Gras kicks off February 8 with Daughtry taking the stage.
SeaWorld's Bands, Brew and BBQ event continues this weekend as well.
Grammy-award winning country singer Gretchen Wilson is featured on Saturday (Feb 8) and hilarious comedy TV star Bill Engvall is the featured act on Sunday (Feb 9). Does he count as a band??
