Cabana Bay is On the Way at Universal

Happy Tuesday!

Universal announced today it is now accepting reservations for its  new Cabana Bay Beach Resort.
Announced just six months ago, Universal & Loews say the Resort will be ready to go for guests starting March 31, 2014.

By far the largest of the Universal resorts, Cabana Bay will  feature 1,800 rooms, including 900 of the hottest new category in area hotel rooms: Family Suites.

In comparison, the Hard Rock has 650 rooms, the Portofino Bay & Royal Pacific have 750 rooms each.

Today -- Universal also gave us a new look inside a standard Cabana Bay room.

Cabana Bay is meant to be more of a value resort than its 3 sister resorts, but as you can see in this look at the South Courtyard -- it will have a tropical-themed pool complete with Lazy River.

Universal says the new resort will create 600 permanent jobs & thousands of temporary construction jobs.

About the theme, Universal says it "will evoke the classic, retro-feel of iconic beach resorts from the 1950s and 60's."

The North area of the resort is to open first, The South wing will open later next year.

A unique amenity: Cabana Bay will have a 10-lane bowling alley. (Seems like a trend -- with Splitsville at Downtown Disney & Kings Bowl coming to I-Drive Live).

Universal says  Family suite rates will begin at $174 per-night; standard room rates will begin at $119 per-night, but package rates will be available.

Here's a link to Universal's official page for the Cabana Bay for more information or to make reservations.

Again -- the momentum is with Universal. Transformers is reportedly weeks away from soft opening. The Simpsons miniland is coming along, and the purported Potter part 2 is also rising fast as well.

Here's a link to my recent construction tour of those developments, and here's a link to other recent Theme World blog posts.
