Hogwarts Express is on Track
Quick but important announcement from Theme World. Hours after the first pictures were tweeted out by others -- Universal Orlando now confirms the obvious: The Hogwarts Express is now on the tracks.
The park tweeted out these three official photos minutes ago:
You can see the first locomotive and tender car were hoisted by crane earlier today for the first systems tests of the new family-friendly ride. The second Locomotive and all of the passenger cars for both trains are all backstage waiting for tests -- and for finishing show work on the attraction that will link the existing Hogsmeade Village (Islands of Adventure's Wizarding World of Harry Potter) with London & Diagon Alley (Universal Studio's WWOHP Pt 2)
Construction crews have been working hard and fast to get the tracks ready for these crucial operational tests. They have to be done before Universal Creative can finish work on the show scenes you will experience while traveling. Here's a look at the track under construction last month that I took during Halloween Horror Nights.
Still being worked out are the exact details on how the attraction will work practically, given that it links two separately-ticketed theme parks, but with construction ramped up to a fever pitch, more should be revealed soon.
The Hogwarts Express, Gringotts Bank coaster and several other unannounced attractions are expected to open by next summer at Universal Studios.
We, of course, will keep you posted.
Keep your emails, questions, tips and comments coming! I always appreciate the feedback.
