New Flavors at Disney Favorites
Greetings to those of you who enjoy taste and smell at the parks. Today Disney has new twists on two fan favorites.
First I take you to Epcot -- where Coca Cola's Club Cool has swapped out most of its free foreign flavors
The new lineup keeps Japan's VegitaBeta and Italy's polarizing pleasure Beverly. No more Mezzo Mix. So long Smart Watermelon.
Here's Disney's official list of new flavors at the Innoventions staple.
With more than 90 distinct flavors available in more than 180 countries, Fanta made its European debut in the 1940s and was introduced to the USA in 1960. Fanta Pineapple is caffeine-free and features a sweet pineapple taste.
Originally launched in Japan in 1992, VegitaBeta is a non-carbonated beverage with apricot and passion fruit flavors and is rich in beta-carotene that contributes to its unique yellowish-orange color.
Fanta (Melon Frosty) is the number one soft drink of Thailand. With a fun melon flavor, this carbonated beverage is beloved in Thailand's sunny, tropical climate.
Originally created in 1998, Bibo is a fruit flavored line of juice drinks popular in South Africa. The brand features fun characters such as Johnny Orange, Taka Strawberry and Paolo Peach.
A raspberry flavored cream soda, Sparberry launched in Africa in 1955. It is exclusively available in several countries in southeast Africa.
Guarana Kuat is a guarana berry flavored soft drink first launched in Brazil in 1997. The word guarana comes from the Guaraní word guara-ná, which translates to "fruit like the eyes of the people."
Known as "The Taste of Peru," Inca Kola has an unusually sweet fruity flavor that many compare to the taste of liquid bubblegum. The name refers to the Quechua words for king and queen.
Beverly, with its bitter flavor, is a popular non-alcoholic apéritif that is a traditional part of Italian refreshment culture.
The EpSoda samples remain free.
Not free -- but a welcome addition over at Hollywood Studios. Outside The Hollywood Brown Debry restaurant -- the new Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge opened today. This one could excite the locals because there are NO reservations, NO hated Disney Dining Plan, and there's a discount for anyone with the Tables in Wonderland.
Disney's food photographers went into overtime showing off the tasty new light bites and drinks.
Alcohol wise, Disney promises "guests can sip wine, beer and cocktails such as a classic Mint Gimlet (Nolet's Silver Dry Gin, simply syrup, lime juice and fresh mint) or a Bloody Mary with Absolut Peppar Vodka. There are flights of martinis, Champagne, wines, Scotch and Grand Marnier. And wine by the glass or half bottle."
Food items include "artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, duck confit tacos, steamed Prince Edward Island mussels, Derby Cocktail with jumbo lump blue crab, black tiger shrimp, avocado and a horseradish-tomato juice, and two Derby Sliders-a Wagyu beef slider with cognac mustard aïoli, smoked gouda cheese, bacon and avocado; and a house-made chorizo slider with chipotle mayo, manchego cheese, pickles and crispy onions."
Yes, of course there is dessert: "Chocolate Three Ways (praline milk chocolate cream, crunchy ganache and orange-chocolate mousse), a banana-white chocolate toffee tower on a cocoa-almond cookie and bananas Foster, or strawberry Champagne cheesecake."
What I don't know yet are the prices. You can also order off of the full Brown Derby menu.
That's it for today. In case you missed it, here's a link to yesterday's update on Busch Gardens' new thrill ride Falcon's Fury.
Keep your emails, questions, tips and comments coming! I always appreciate the feedback.
