Boil water alert issued for Mount Dora

16-inch line ruptures near Lincoln Avenue, State Road 441

MOUNT DORA, Fla. - The city of Mount Dora replaced a water main that ruptured Sunday evening, prompting a boil water alert for thousands.

City officials said crews found the break on the 16-inch line at Lincoln Avenue and State Road 441.  The boil water notice remains in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday, the city said.

A representative with the city of Mount Dora said residents on the east side of town, from State Road 44 to the Orange County line, were impacted.

Major subdivisions impacted by the water main break are:

  • County Club of Mount Dora
  • Lakes of Mount Dora
  • Summerbrooke
  • Stoneybrook Hills
  • Sullivan Ranch

Affected residents were urged to boil water used for drinking, cooking, baking and brushing teeth.  The water is safe for bathing or showering, city officials said.
