Crews break ground on new restaurant at Amway Center

'The Club at NBA City' expected to open in October

ORLANDO, Fla. – Construction crews will break ground on a new NBA-themed restaurant at the Amway Center on Tuesday morning.

"The Club at NBA City" will be located at the northwest corner of the venue -- near the corner of Church Street and Division Avenue. The new restaurant will be run by the same group in charge of "NBA City" at Universal Studios Orlando.

According to city agenda records, the restaurant will be about 4,100 square feet -- a little less than one-quarter the size of the original 17,000 square foot "NBA City." It will feature an outdoor patio to go along with the indoor seating.

Restaurant managers hope to open the restaurant in time for the start of the 2012-2013 NBA season in October.

Tuesday's "construction kick-off" event starts at 11:00 a.m. at the Amway Center.
