Daytona Beach launches gang tip line

Enables anonymous tips to police

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daytona Beach police have launched an anonymous tip line to combat gang-related crimes.

Police told Local 6 one of the biggest steps that can be taken towards getting rid of the problem is getting help from the community in reporting crimes and suspicious activity.

That's where the Gang Tip Hotline comes in. You can call 386-671-5270 to report gangs, gang members and/or gang activity. It's just a message service, so if you have an emergency to report, call 911.

You can text police to report crimes by texting "CRIMES" (274637) with a cell phone-- if you do so, begin the message with "DB TIPS".

You can also visit the Daytona Beach Police Department website and clicking on 'Anonymous Web Tips'.
