Family, friends honor fallen FHP trooper

Visitation held for Trooper Chelsea Richard

OCALA, Fla. – Family and friends will gather on Wednesday to share stories and honor the life of fallen Florida Highway Patrol trooper Chelsea Richard.

Richard, 30, was killed Saturday afternoon while working the scene of a two-car crash on Interstate 75 in Marion County.

Troopers tell Local 6 a separate, multi-vehicle crash in the area caused Richard's patrol car to hit and kill her. Two other people were killed on the side of the road.

A visitation is scheduled on Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Ocala from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Richard's funeral will be held at the same church on Thursday at 2 p.m.

Trooper Richard's family is asking for privacy and says flowers may be sent to the church.

Richard is survived by her 4-year-old son.
