FHP: Driver flees after killing man on scooter

Troopers searching for witnesses of crash

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for the driver who hit and killed a man on a scooter near Valencia College.

Troopers were called to the intersection of Goldenrod Road and Valencia College Lane just after 1:30 a.m. on Friday. They found 28-year-old Aaron Dale Jones and his scooter in the middle of the road.

Troopers tell Local 6 Dale was riding his scooter south on Goldenrod Road and attempted to turn onto Valencia College Lane. A second vehicle driving north on Goldenrod Road hit Dale while he was trying to turn.

Dale was thrown off his scooter and onto the road. The second car kept going north and left the scene of the crash.

Dale died at the hospital just before 4:30 a.m. on Friday.

Troopers are still searching for witnesses of the crash. They didn't have a description of the second vehicle as of Friday morning.

Anyone with information about the crash was urged to call the Florida Highway Patrol.
