Food blogger cheated to finish 2nd in Florida Half Marathon

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Jane Seo was all smiles holding a shiny medal after coming in second in Sunday's Fort Lauderdale Half Marathon.

The food blogger who hails from New York finished with a time of 1 hour and 21 minutes.

But there was one problem; Seo didn't actually complete the entire 13.1 mile distance and was disqualified for cheating after cutting out about 1-and-a-half miles of the course.

Derek Murphy of Marathoninvestigation.com outed Seo, 24, as a fraud just days after she crossed the finish line and stood on the podium as the second-place finisher.

Murphy's report shows plenty of damning evidence that led to Seo's fake run falling apart. Mainly, her times showed that Seo had run faster near the end of the run than at the start.

But the real smoking gun the running watch Seo was wearing in the post-race photos. When Murphy zoomed into the watch, it showed she had only completed 11.65 miles of the race.

Seo attempted to cover her tracks by re-running the course later in the day and posting the time to a runners website. However, Seo later confessed to biking the re-run.

Seo eventually apologized on her since-deleted Instagram account, saying she had made a horrible choice.

"I got swept away in the moment and pretended I ran the entire course," Seo wrote. "When in fact I cheated and should have disqualified myself."
