Gunman sought after shots fired, woman hurt

Injuries not life-threatening, according to deputies

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Deputies are searching for the gunman who they say fired shots and possibly pistol-whipped a woman in Daytona Beach early Monday morning.

Volusia deputies said they received reports from the woman, who originally told deputies she was shot. Sheriff's investigators say the woman was walking with another person at San Juan Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue when a vehicle approached her at about 4 a.m. with two people inside, deputies say.

Deputies said shots were fired and the woman was injured. She was rushed to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach.

Deputies say her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Investigators say they don't believe the woman was shot,  but that she was possibly pistol-whipped. The investigation is ongoing.
