Man may have 'skimmed' Publix ATM

Daytona Beach police search for man

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach police are looking for a man they believed may have tampered with a Publix ATM.

Police said they were called out to the Publix at 2595 North Atlantic Ave. in Daytona Beach around 1 p.m. Sunday receiving a report about suspicious activity.

Police said a manager told them a customer said the ATM was not reading his card and may be broken.

Police said the manager inspected the machine and thought it appeared to have been tampered with.

Police said the manager watched the surveillance video and noticed that around 9:30 a.m. a man was seen putting something onto the machine, then came back in around 1 p.m. and removed the item.

Police said the same person that approached the ATM appeared to have taken something from his shirt and placed it on the machine, then removed it later while wearing different clothing.

Police are asking anyone who may have used the machine to check their accounts to see if it was tampered with.
