1 killed, 1 injured in Orlando home invasion shooting

Deputies say victims were playing video games when intruders broke into home

ORLANDO, Fla. – Two men playing video games were shot -- one fatally -- late Tuesday in an Orlando home invasion.

Joseph Holness, 21, died in the double-shooting, which occurred around 11 p.m. in the 100 block of Hope Circle near State Road 408 and Kirkman Road.

According to Orange County sheriff's deputies, the men were playing a game when three intruders broke into the home.

One of the victims ran toward the kitchen and was shot twice, deputies said.  He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.  The other man, later identified as Holness, ran away but was found dead near Washington Street and Murray Drive.  It's not known if Holness was shot in the home or on the street after he fled.

Deputies said the victim in the hospital is cooperating with the investigation, but no details have been released.

It's not known if the victims knew the intruders.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
