ORLANDO, Fla. – Orange County deputies are trying to figure out who shot and killed a man while he was riding in a car, which caused the driver to crash into a tree.
Deputies received several 911 calls for the accident late Wednesday in the area of Silver Star Road and Hastings Street.
When emergency crews arrived on scene, they found the car involved in the accident and a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man, identified as 20-year-old Andrew Gayle, was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
Deputies said the woman tried to drive to the hospital after she saw that Gayle had been shot, but soon lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a tree. The woman was treated for minor injuries resulting from the accident.
Silver Star Road was closed for several hours while investigators gathered evidence.
Deputies said there is no information about a possible suspect in the shooting.
