ORLANDO, Fla. - Seven weeks before Election Day, the League of Women Voters is adding a voter assistance hotline to help citizens exercise their right to vote.
Citizens must register in Florida by October 9, or forfeit their right to vote in the Nov. 6 General Election.
"Registration is the key to ensuring that all voters have the chance to make their voices heard on Election Day. Every single vote counts," said League President Deirdre Macnab. "Our members throughout the state are making renewed face-to-face efforts to boost registration and compensate for lost time, and we're pleased to add this Voter Assistance Hotline to supplement their efforts."
The hotline – 1-855-FL-VOTER (1-855-358-6837) – provides information on a wide variety of voter issues, including: how to register or verify current registration; requesting absentee ballots; locating polling places; and changing names or addresses.
The league also has a website, www.BeReadyToVote.org, with similar information.
