Orange County deputies host blood drive to honor fallen deputy

Drive in honor of Deputy Scott Pine

ORLANDO, Fla. – A blood drive was held on Friday in memory of fallen Deputy Scott Pine, who was killed in the line of duty this past week.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office decided to host the event to raise awareness about the daily need for blood donations, and also because Pine was a blood donor himself.

"Scott acted bravely and gave his life, making a difference so others could sleep safely," Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said.

According to a release from OCSO, deputies witness first-hand the critical need for a community blood supply.

"That's why we feel so strongly about letting everyone know about this ongoing need and how it can easily impact our department at any time" said Noel Beary, Orange County Sheriff's blood drive chairperson.

The blood drive will be going on until 3 p.m. and will be set up outside the sheriff's office on West Colonial Drive.
