Orlando police releases new stats in 2013 year review

The Orlando Police Department released its year-in-review report on Wednesday.

OPD said at the review on Wednesday that property crimes were up in 2013 by 0.5 percent, but total crimes and violent crimes were down.

Police also discussed their challenges in 2013 as internal affairs. OPD fired four officers in 2013--Danny Sidders, Bryant Almeida, Dante Candelaria and Andrew Peczinka.

OPD also reported six officer-involved shootings.

"This past year was a very scary one for our officers," said OPD Chief Paul Rooney. "The worst of the worst criminals are now getting flagged."

In 2013, OPD worked 19 homicides, compared to 27 in the city the year before.
