Innocent woman caught in crossfire, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police on Thursday released a photo in connection with a downtown shooting that left a man and woman wounded.

Police said the two people on the right side of the picture were wanted for questioning.

Police said two people started shooting at each other around 2:40 a.m. June 18 in a parking lot at Central Boulevard and Garland Avenue near the Orlando Police Department.

Nearby officers found a woman, described as an innocent bystander, with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her leg, Orlando police said.  She was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

A short time later, a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body arrived at a hospital was listed in stable but critical condition, said police, who added that the man underwent surgery.

Police said they were interviewing witnesses and an investigation is ongoing.

According to Orlando police, overall crime downtown continues to decrease, and there has been a 6.32 percent drop in the first half of 2014 compared to the same time period last year.
