Police hand out fliers in club killing

Dino Cannon shot, killed next to Club LimeLite

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police handed out fliers Thursday as they search for the person who shot and killed a teenage tourist near a downtown club.

Dino Cannon, 18, was shot to death just after 2:30 a.m. a week ago Friday in an alley next to Club LimeLite.

Although the club was packed, homicide detectives have been unable to find a suspect.

Police said Cannon was defending his sister after someone apparently touched her inappropriately. There was a fight at the club and bouncers kicked the suspect out, but he waited in a nearby parking lot and shot Cannon in the chest.

A week later, police handed out fliers, hoping someone can help them catch the killer of the recent high school graduate from Texas.

"Please, if you know anything if you know anything let us know," said Daphne Cannon as she choked back tears a week ago. "I don't know why they took my baby from me. He was 18."

Cannon had just gone to prom, graduated, and was planning to play football at a Texas university.

"I don't know who took his life. I don't understand it, but I am asking if you would please, please give us some information so we might find this person," said Cannon's mother. "We just want some closure."

Anyone with information should call the Orlando Police Dept at 321-235-5300 or Crimeline at 1800-423-TIPS.

Callers may remain anonymous and be eligible for a Crimeline reward of up to $5,000.
