OVIEDO, Fla. – Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Seminole County deputies called off their search Sunday night for two missing boaters at Lake Jesup. Crews will resume Monday morning.
Investigators found very little Sunday, a shoe and maybe cigarettes, but what crews aren't finding is more concerning for family and friends- the two men.
Charlie Jackson and Jason Cobb have been missing since early Saturday morning when the two men left a bachelor party.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the men apparently left Black Hammock Fish Camp on Lake Jesup in a 15-foot Bass Tracker fishing boat around 1 a.m. Saturday. The boat was found sometime later about three quarters of a mile north of the fishing camp up among, but nobody was onboard, authorities said.
Wildlife officials say evidence shows they were likely thrown from the boat.
Sunday, Seminole County's helicopter scoured the lake with night-vision lens, but produced no signs of the men, however, friends are hopeful the men are still alive. They tell Local 6 that the men are very familiar with the lake and are 'tough guys'.
Wildlife officials told Local 6 they could be alive but didn't know how probable. Crews say their fear is hypothermia with the cold temperatures.
FWC says the search and rescue mission could turn into recovery mode on Monday.
There was no apparent damage to the boat. Two life jackets, two paddles, a partial can of beer and eight unopened beer cans were found on the boat, FWC said.
One of the men is from Deltona and the other is from Osteen.
