Sprinkler head burst floods apartments

Residents evacuated from damaged units

ORLANDO, Fla. – An apartment building at the Lofts at SoDo was evacuated early Friday after a sprinkler head burst and flooded several apartments.

Orlando Fire Department received a call for an alarm before 3 a.m. to 100 West Grant Street.  When firefighters arrived on scene they found an apartment heavily flooded on the fifth floor and water cascading into the units below.

Firefighters allowed some residents to return to their apartments after the sprinkler system was shut off.

Four apartments and one business received water damage from the rupture.  At least six residents were displaced as crews worked to clean up the flooded apartments.

Firefighters said that apartment maintenance workers are investigating what caused the sprinkler head to burst.
