ORLANDO, Fla. – A suspicious package that prompted officials to close a major roadway near SeaWorld Orlando was destroyed Wednesday morning.
The package, described by the Orange County Sheriff's Office as a suitcase, was discovered by a security guard around 3:30 a.m. on Central Florida Parkway near Discovery Cove.
The Bomb Squad detonated the suitcase after an X-ray of the luggage showed electronics inside. Central Florida Parkway reopened about two hours after the incident began.
Deputies later said an investigation revealed that the suitcase belonged to a homeless man who was found drunk behind a hotel on International Drive.
