ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando police are searching for the man who they say robbed a hotel near the tourist district early Friday morning and used a taxi as his getaway vehicle.

Police said the man walked into the Best Western on Universal Boulevard just before 4 a.m. disguised in a Rasta-style cap with dreadlocks, sunglasses and a bandanna over his face, and told the security guard, "give me the money."

According to the report, the man escorted the guard to the hotel counter and when the guard didn't move fast enough, the man grabbed a wicker style basket and jumped over the counter.

The man stole money from a cash drawer and ran out of the hotel, getting into a Mears taxi and heading south on Universal Boulevard, police said.

Police checked with Mears for the cab number, but they couldn't provide a vehicle dispatched to the hotel.
