Jacksonville Sheriff's Office suspects foul play in woman's death

Norris Dail and his son are wanted after Dail's girlfriend was found dead.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.(WJXT)A 4-year-old missing after a woman was found dead at a Southside apartment complex Wednesday has been found safe out of town, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced.

The boy's father, Norris Dail, and victim's car are still being sought. An Amber Alert that was triggered when the child was missing has been canceled.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said officers responded to a welfare check about 10:15 a.m. at the L’Esperanza Apartments off University Boulevard, just south of Beach Boulevard, found the woman dead.

Homicide detectives have learned that the woman had lived in the apartment complex for the past several months with her 26-year-old boyfriend, Norris Rashi Dail, and his 4-year-old son. Police said the man and boy were last seen leaving the apartment at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Police continue looking for the victim's 2000 silver Mitsubishi Galant that has a Maryland Baltimore Ravens vanity license plate, number 1BK9546. There is also a Ravens sticker on one of the windows.

The woman's name was not released.

News4Jax has learned that Norris Dail was arrested twice on domestic violence charges in Maryland in 2015, and was also involved in a child custody fight last year, also in Maryland. A woman tried to get a protective order against Dail, but it was denied.

Police ask anyone with information or who knows the whereabouts of Dail or sees the car is asked to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS or 911.
