Police: Man stealing restaurant urinal pipes

Suspect caught on camera at McDonald's

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach police have released surveillance video of the man they believe is stealing pipes from restaurant bathrooms.

Officers told Local 6 the man first targeted the bathroom of the Pizza Hut at 500 S. Atlantic Ave. on Saturday. They believe the man entered the bathroom with a "bluish-green backpack" and stayed inside for about 10 minutes.

After the man left, a Pizza Hut worker checked the bathroom and found a 2-foot metal pipe connected to the urinal was taken. The employee also noted both urinal handles were removed.

Investigators received a call about a similar crime the next day at the McDonald's at 3001 N. Atlantic Ave.  Police believe the man stole a pipe connected to one of the urinals in the fast food restaurant's bathroom.

Workers described the suspect as a white man, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a light colored baseball cap, a black jacket, a gray T-shirt and blue jeans. Surveillance video shows him carrying a "soft-type lunch box" over his shoulder.

The stolen pipes are valued at $400, according to Daytona Beach investigators.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the crime is asked to text the information to "CRIMES" (274637) and begin the message with "DBTIPS."
