Python stolen from pet store returned injured

Police make no arrests after theft in Belleview

BELLEVIEW, Fla. – A Marion County pet store owner says a python stolen from his Belleview store has been returned, but says the snake was injured in the process.

In the video obtained by Local 6 from store owner John Tuminaro, the man pulled the snake from its terrarium and stuffed it in his pants pocket at the A2Z Reptiles store on Monday night.

Tuminaro said the snake is a male albino ball python valued at $400.

Police put out an alert to try and find the suspect but Tuminaro says on Tuesday, the same man who took the snake returned it because of all the publicity.

The python though, has a large open wound.

Tuminaro isn't sure how the snake was injured, but says it will take some time for the python to heal.

So far, police have made no arrests in the case but say their investigation is ongoing.
