Stray bullet possibly grazes boy in Daytona Beach hotel room

12-year-old not seriously injured

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 12-year-old boy staying in a Daytona Beach hotel room was possibly grazed by a stray bullet that was fired from another room, according to police.

The shooting occurred Thursday morning at the Wyndham Ocean Walk at 300 N. Atlantic Ave.

Daytona Beach police said a Georgia man in an adjoining room on the 8th floor of the hotel was unloading his gun when it accidentally discharged.

The bullet went through a wall and landed near the boy, who was not seriously injured.  An adult said the bullet grazed the boy, but police said the boy, who was on vacation with his family, may have been struck by debris.

No criminal charges were filed against the gun owner, but detectives submitted an affidavit to the state attorneys office, which will decided on any future criminal charges.
