Video: Clerk begs for life during robbery

Ocala police search for 2 robbers

OCALA, Fla. – Two men with a gun are seen on an Ocala store security video robbing and pistol-whipping a clerk as he begged for his life.

Carrol Ray Quinn told Local 6 about his ordeal the morning the men robbed him behind the counter at A & M Discount Beverage on NE 24th Street.

Store security video showed the men bursting into the store on June 17. They hopped the counter, held a gun inches away from Quinn's face and demanded cash.

Quinn hit the ground, fumbled at the register and tried to avoid staring down the barrel of the gun.

"It was scary. At that point, I didn't want to see too much. I just wanted to get my face out of the gun," said Quinn. "At first, I though they were going to shoot me or something."

The men are heard on the video shouting, "That's not it!" and demanding more cash. That's when Quinn said he knew their violence could become worse.

"I could tell they didn't have any respect at all for my life or anything as long as they got the money," said Quinn. "I told them I have two kids as well and just don't shoot me."

Through it all, Quinn said his mind was focused on his two sons and wife. All three were supposed to be with him at the store that morning, but instead, it was only him working on Father's Day.

"I'm just happy I was there for my kids on Father's Day," said Quinn. "It's really scary and frightening but not a lot you can do except try to improve your security and move on."

The robbers remain on the loose and police hope somebody recognizes them before they attack again.  Police are working with Marion County sheriff's deputies to see if they are connected to other crimes in the county.
