Maitland police: Man shot out gas station door during robbery

MAITLAND, Fla. – A gas station clerk is shaken up Sunday morning after an armed man attempted to rob him and fired a shot through a glass door, Maitland police officials said.

Police said a man came into the Shell gas station at 500 South Orlando Ave. while the employee was counting money in the back of the store. The man pointed a gun at the clerk. When the clerk tried to run, the man fired a shot shattering the glass front door of the business, police on scene said.

The man got away with some money and fled the crime scene with two other people in a red Nissan, authorities said.

The employee was not injured, police said.

Police are reviewing surveillance video of the incident to gather more information on the people involved.
