ORLANDO, Fla. – A 66-year-old man was punched in the face Monday night after he was involved in a car accident in the parking lot of a Miller's Ale House in Orlando, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The victim had just pulled his vehicle into the parking lot of the restaurant on Winter Garden Vineland Road, but was unable to pull forward because an SUV was in the middle of the lane with its driver side doors open, the arrest affidavit said.

The 66-year-old man, who was with his girlfriend and brother, asked the SUV occupants to close their doors so he could get by. Ronald Ayers, 37, closed the doors on his SUV and the victim drove forward.

The door of the SUV opened once again as the victim was next to it, causing the victim to hit the door with his car, deputies said.

Ayers and the victim exchanged some words then moved to the back of the parking lot so they could examine their vehicles without blocking traffic, the report said.

Ayers told the victim that his wife was upset, but he didn't want any trouble, deputies said. Ayers' wife was yelling threats at the victim, according to the affidavit.

The victim's girlfriend approached him and said Ayers' wife was a "b----," the report said. Ayers heard his wife yelling about being called a profanity and approached the victim, said "You called my wife a b----" and punched him in the face, according to deputies.

Ayers' wife said the victim touched her on the nose, but witnesses did not see the victim touch the woman, the report said.

Ayers is charged with battery on a person 65 years or older and with violation of probation because he's on probation for a felony drug charge, records show.
