Man, 69, hit by car, killed in Daytona Beach

Driver not facing charges in fatal crash

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 69-year-old Osteen man was hit by a car and killed late Tuesday in Daytona Beach, according to officials.

Charles T. Proudfoot died in the crash, which occurred around 10:20 p.m. on West International Speedway Boulevard near LPGA.

According to officials, a woman driving a Honda entered the intersection and struck Proudfoot, who was crossing the street.

Officials said the driver had a green light and Proudfoo was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was taken to Halifax Hospital with minor leg and hand injuries.

No charges are pending.
