Man accused of robbing same 7-Eleven twice

Jessie Crawford faces multiple charges

COCOA, Fla. – A man accused of robbing the same 7-Eleven twice in less than a week in November was arrested Monday on multiple charges, according to the Cocoa Police Department.

In both robberies, police said Jessie Crawford, 41, masked his face, entered the store at 947 Dixon Blvd. and demanded cash from the clerk. Witnesses told police that Crawford had an unidentified weapon.

No one was injured in either incident.

Crawford is charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm, four counts of robbery with a weapon, robbery with no firearm or weapon, three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and failure to appear.

Police said that when he was arrested Monday, Crawford confessed to the robberies, saying he did it to help his wife.

"He basically said that he did it because his significant other was ill and he needed the money," Cocoa police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez said.

Police said during he apologized to the clerks as he was holding them up.

"It's certainly unusual, but regardless of his motive, he put them in fear for their lives so he's going to be charged accordingly," Martinez said.

Crawford is accused of seven robberies in all.

A judge at the county jail Tuesday tallied his bail at $1 million for some of the charges.

He's being held on no bond for the others.

Crawford will be represented in court by a public defender. The judge also said he's not allowed to go back to the 7-Eleven.
