BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested after deputies said he physically attacked his girlfriend Sunday.
The Brevard County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to a residence where a woman reported she was physically attacked by her boyfriend.

The victim said her boyfriend hit her repeatedly, as well as used a knife during the attack.
Deputies said the man left the area before they arrived, but an investigation led them to a location in Merritt Island.
The Sheriff's Office said when deputies arrived, the suspect was seen running from the area, but that the aviation unit was able to find the man hiding in a tree.
The suspect, who deputies did not identify, was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.

The subject was charged with Aggravated Battery, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, two (2) counts of Violation of Probation, and is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail on No Bond. The investigation began early Sunday morning when West Precinct Deputies responded to a residence regarding a complaint. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with the victim who stated she was physically attacked by her boyfriend. According to the victim, the suspect hit her repeatedly as well as used a knife during the attack before fleeing the residence prior to the Deputies arrival. As a result of their investigation, Deputies learned of a location in Merritt Island where the suspect was possibly hiding in an effort to evade arrest. Brevard County Sheriff's Office East Precinct Deputies responded to the area and made contact with an individual who advised no one else was at the location. After receiving consent to search for the suspect, Deputies observed the suspect fleeing on foot. With the assistance of the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, the subject was found hiding in a tree where he had attempted to conceal himself from the Sheriff's Office Helicopter. Deputies were subsequently directed to the subject's location where he was taken into custody without further incident.
