Man arrested in Cocoa shooting of 12-year-old boy

Dontarius Terelle Jones arrested on multiple charges

COCOA, Fla. – A 25-year-old Cocoa man was arrested Friday in the shooting of a 12-year-old boy.

Dontarius Terelle Jones, of Cocoa, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, discharge of a firearm from a motor vehicle, discharge of a firearm on a roadway and aggravated child abuse.

Brevard County sheriff's deputies said the shooting occurred Thursday afternoon on A Lane in Cocoa.  The boy, who was shot in the leg, was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation led to the arrest of Jones, who was being held at the Brevard County Jail on no bond.
