ORLANDO, Fla. - A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing his estranged wife several times outside an Orlando home.
Altherio Sharpton Jr. was arrested in the attack, which occurred Sunday night on Center Street near Orange Avenue.
The woman, described by neighbors as a mother, suffered critical injuries in the attack. She was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she underwent surgery.
According to Orange County sheriff's deputies, Sharpton went into the home, dragged his estranged wife out and stabbed her several times and left her lying in a pool of blood before driving away.
An investigation led deputies to a home on Golf Club Parkway, where Sharpton was arrested.
A domestic violence injunction had been issued against Sharpton a week ago after a Dec. 25 domestic violence incident, prohibiting him from being within 500 feet of the home, according to investigators.
Sharpton, who faces charges of attempted murder, burglary, kidnapping/domestic violence and violation of domestic injunction, was taken to the Orange County Jail.
