ORLANDO, Fla. - A 28-year-old man was arrested Thursday in Orange County on suspicion of attempting to lure young girls.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office began a joint investigation about a month ago due to a reported "lewd and lascivious and attempted luring or enticing of a child" incident within the county.
An incident report was initiated, but deputies said the victim was unable to identify the alleged suspect.
Deputies said investigators, however, identified the suspect as Jeremy Hagan and gathered information such as his employment, address and criminal history. Hagan had two prior convictions for misdemeanor sexual-related crimes and is on probation, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Investigators conducted mobile and visual surveillance on Hagan for three weeks, and deputies said Hagan consistently traveled a specific pattern at specific times and through three different subdivisions in the Waterford Lakes and Azalea Park areas.
Deputies said Hagan consistently photographed young girls from his vehicle, which is not a crime, but he also attempted to lure the girls from a distance. Deputies said most of the children never paid him any attention, however.
Deputies arrested Hagan on charges of lewd or lascivious exhibition in the presence of a child, and luring or enticing a child.
Hagan's roommates didn't want to be identified but told Local 6 that he had been living with them for a year. They say they were unaware of his actions because he kept to himself.
"I thought that he was just awkward around people, but, you know, he seemed to like video games and stuff like that so we just thought that maybe he had friends online that he would talk to," a roommate said.
"I'm shocked and hurt because we put our trust out to help somebody and instead they burn us like this. It's very upsetting," another roommate said.
