Man broke in to gas station through roof, stole cigarettes, Orlando police say

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police are searching for the burglar they say broke into a Chevron gas station through the roof to steal cigarettes.

Police said surveillance video shows a man coming through the ceiling behind the cash register at the Chevron gas station on Old Winter Garden Road early Sunday morning, rummaging through boxes and grabbing six cartons of Newport cigarettes.

The man then jumped on the counter, shoved the cartons of cigarettes through the ceiling and jumped back through the ceiling, according to police.

The gas station owner said the cost of damage, along with the theft, is approximately $2,500.

Police described the man as a Hispanic or light-skinned black male in his 30s wearing a black baseball cap, black long-sleeved shirt and pants and yellow work gloves.

Police haven't released surveillance video of the robbery.
