Man exposed himself to trick-or-treaters, Volusia County deputies say

Man also exposed self to investigating deputy, report states

DELTONA, Fla. – A Deltona man was arrested on Thursday night after deputies say he was exposing himself to trick-or-treaters and offering money instead of candy.

[AUDIO: 911 call reporting indecent exposure]

John Vowels, 63, faces two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition after deputies say a 12 and 14-year-old reported he exposed his genitals to them when they went trick-or-treating at his house on Deed Circle.

The father, who said his children were told by other children to be careful because there was a "naked man" inside the house, reported the incident to authorities.

Deputies also said when they went to investigate, Vowels was spotted naked sitting on the couch through a window and answered the door in a robe that exposed his genitals.

According to the report, Vowels acknowledged that he may have answered the door to trick-or-treaters in his robe and said he offered them money because he didn't have any Halloween candy.

Vowels was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach.
