Driver hit traffic sign post after striking man, troopers say

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car and dragged down the road Saturday night in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jamel Brown, 37, of Naples, was crossing U.S. 192 from north to south, near Magical Landings Boulevard, around 10:30 p.m. as the driver of a Ford Focus was heading east in the center lane, troopers said.

Troopers said Brown was struck by the front left of the Ford Focus and dragged underneath the car before he ended up on the right shoulder of road.

The woman driving the Ford Focus then drove through the grassy shoulder before she hit a traffic sign post, the Highway Patrol said.

Brown was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
