Witnesses say duo hit while attempting to cross S.R. 436

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man and girl were taken to a hospital after troopers say they were struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross State Road 436.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday on State Road 436 near Century Boulevard in Orlando.

Witnesses said the pair attempted to cross S.R. 436 from the east to the west. The two made it to the median.

When the pair stepped into the southbound lanes, however, they were struck as they walked into the direct path of the vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man, identified on Friday by troopers as Shehan Wu, of Ocoee, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, and the girl, described as an 8-year-old, was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital in critical condition, according officials.

The driver, a 19-year-old Titusville woman, was not injured.
