Ormond Beach police search for thief

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A man wearing a traffic safety vest hopped over a counter at an Ormond Beach bank and stole a cash drawer before running away, police said.

The robbery occurred around 10:15 a.m. at the Bank of America at 699 S. Nova Road.

According to Ormond Beach police, the man entered the bank, approached the counter and jumped over the counter.  He grabbed a cash drawer and emptied it into a bag he was carrying before running away, police said.

The man did not show a weapon or imply that he had one, police said.

The robber was described as a heavyset black man, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and 285 pounds.  He was wearing a long-sleeve blue shirt, blue jeans, a yellow traffic safety vest and a black and yellow baseball hat.
