Man in wheelchair beaten with cane after refusing to buy marijuana

Orlando police investigate beating, robbery

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man in a wheelchair was beaten and robbed by a teen in Orlando after refusing to buy some marijuana, according to police.

According to an Orlando police report, an officer left the Parramore Bike Office on Church Street early Thursday when he heard a man calling for help.

The officer said he found a man covered in blood and called for assistance.

The man told police he was headed down Jackson Street toward Parramore when he was approached by a teen, who asked him if he wanted to buy some dope, according to Orlando police.

The man told the teen no, so he told the man to give him his money, according to police.  The man refused, said police, who added that the teen then grabbed the man's cane, which was in his wheelchair, and began beating him on his head and face.

The teen took $7 from the man and ran off, police said.

The man wheeled himself to the Bike Office, where the officer found him.

The victim was taken to Florida Hospital South for treatment.

The assailant was described as a black teen, about 16 years old and wearing a white T-shirt and riding a bike.
