Man injured in shooting near Cocoa charter academy

Victim's injuries non-life-threatening, police say

COCOA, Fla. – Detectives are investigating a shooting that left one man injured Tuesday night.

The Cocoa Police Department said officers responded to the area of Blake Avenue just after 8 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

Witnesses told police the victim was shot outside a home on Wilson Avenue just before the gunman left the area on foot headed toward Blake Avenue.

Police said all activities at the nearby Emma Jewel Charter Academy were placed on lockdown while officers secured the area.

Police said no other injuries were reported.

The victim's injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.

Detectives continue investigating the incident.
