ALTOONA, Fla. – A man was killed Sunday when his motorcycle struck a power pole at about 7:05 p.m. at County Road 42 and Rea Way.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the 23-year-old motorcyclist, who has not been identified, was driving west on CR-42 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his bike on a curve in the road and struck a power pole.

Troopers said the man was taken to Florida Hospital Waterman, where he died.
FHP said a passenger was riding on the motorcycle, but did not report that the person suffered any injuries.
Troopers continue investigating the crash.
