Man pinned between trucks in Lake County hit-and-run, troopers say

Troopers search for driver of red semitruck, FHP says

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Troopers are searching for a driver accused of leaving the scene of a crash Tuesday morning that pinned a man between two trucks, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A construction pickup truck was parked in the grass on the right shoulder of U.S. 27 in Lake County when a passenger inside the truck got out and went to retrieve an item from the truck's bed, troopers said.

The driver of a semitruck was driving south on U.S. 27 when he left the road and sideswiped the pickup, pinning Luciano Angeles, 36, between the two trucks, according to the Highway Patrol. Troopers said the driver of the semitruck then left the scene.

Troopers said Angeles was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told troopers that the semitruck whose driver fled was red and hauling a trailer. The damage to the red truck will be on the right, front and lower right side of its cab portion, according to the incident report.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

Anyone with information about the driver accused of fleeing is asked to call the Highway Patrol at 407-737-2213.
